After a rough couple of months, I realised I needed to spend some time near the ocean. So on a whim, I booked a ferry to the Isle of Mull and not even two days later, I found myself on a campsite looking out over the water.

It was not the first time I visited the Isle of Mull. In 2015, during our first visit to Scotland, we spent a couple of days on the island, but I don’t remember much of that visit. So before I left, I made a list of places I wanted to see. But the drive there and the boat trip to Staffa and Lunga took so much out of me, that in the end, I spent most of my time in my pod watching the water and the clouds, petting the resident highland coo, and making a dent in my list of movies I’ve been meaning to watch. And that’s alright because this adventure was ultimately not about exploring the island but rather about glueing some pieces of myself back together.

And to see puffins, because I’ve been looking for them for nearly a decade, and never managed to see them up close. Until now.
